3 Minutes

3 Minutes

As I’m going throughout my day accomplishing the things I need to do, I sometimes have only a few minutes before it is time to do something else. Maybe I am finished with lunch cleanup and I have a couple of minutes before putting the little ones down for their nap. Or like yesterday, I finished my music practice and knew we had to start getting shoes and coats on in a few minutes. So I just wandered around the house trying to think of something productive that could be done in those few minutes. After reading this post by Crystal over at Money Saving Mom, I wanted to create my own little list of things that could be done in 2-3 minutes, so that when I have those little chunks of time I can just go consult my list and get busy.

I am using the ones from her list that also apply to me, then adding to it. I would love to hear what other things you find to do with your time in just a few short  minutes.

  • Clean the bathroom sink or toilet
  • Switch load of laundry from washer to dryer
  • Quick clutter pickup of any room
  • Text or email my husband and tell him I love him
  • Fold 10 items of laundry
  • Clean off kitchen counter and load dishes (during the day…after dinner takes much longer)
  • Make my bed
  • Do one of the girls’ hair
  • Check and sort mail
  • Wash the front glass door
  • Straighten up coat and shoe closet
  • Pay the bills
  • Wipe out the microwave

I tried to compile my list with things that I normally struggle to get done. I have 3 baskets of laundry waiting to be folded because we washed all of it yesterday. The kids help too, once their school is finished. But I know if I fold a few things at a time, it will eventually get done. My shoe closet is cluttered and messy 80-90% of the time. All it takes is a couple of minutes to straighten it back up, but it never seems to get done! I have a hard time breaking the big jobs down into smaller, manageable pieces, so this is the perfect kind of list for me.
